Ben Case: Canes Take Bite Out of Panthers So last night was definitely unique and had tons of varying storylines— we saw Michael Leighton get his first NHL win in six years (first start in three) and an assist, Staal got injured, a two-goal comeback win led by Jeff Skinner and then a coach sitting on the curb waiting for a cab after being fired-Wow!

Sadly, I was at work and not able to see the game. I was checking the score on my phone and will freely admit that when it was 2-0 Panthers, I was concerned about following up the 5 game winning streak with a losing streak. That Skinner goal was an absolute beauty, my god.

Losing Jordan indefinitely to a concussion will be a test for this team. Hopefully someone will step up and help fill the void (damned cliche, I apologize).

I'm glad that they brought up Leighton rather than go shopping for a goalie. He will work fine as a backup.
